Eight foam brands, one standard: the right material for your application
We produce all common PU foam types in our own plant in Löhne, Germany. Each of our eight brands forms a foam family with specific properties — from a solid base grade to temperature-neutral premium solutions. Behind them are around 40 foam types with defined densities and compression hardness – all technical values in the type programme (PDF). All grades are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, product class 1 certified.
SOLIDEX®
PU comfort foamOur classic PU comfort foam for everyday use: a good balance of stability and comfort, economical to produce — the foam of choice when reliable, consistent quality is required.
HYLEX®
HR cold foamHigh-performance cold foam with high resilience and an open cell structure: responds dynamically to load, distributes pressure evenly and stays dimensionally stable over years of use.
VILAX®
Highly elastic comfort foamNoticeably responsive: adapts directly to movement, yields gently and returns quickly to its original shape — positioned between comfort foam and HR cold foam.
IGNAX®
Flame-retardant foamA specially treated grade with controlled burning behaviour to FMVSS 302 — the reliable basis for safety-relevant applications, easy to cut and CNC-compatible.
VISOMEX®
Viscoelastic foam (memory)Responds to pressure and body heat: conforms precisely, distributes loads evenly and provides noticeable relief — typically as a 3–6 cm comfort layer over an HR core.
HYDRANEX®
Highly elastic, hydrophilicA finely tuned foam with a soft character: yields gently and, thanks to its hydrophilic treatment, supports balanced moisture behaviour — for calm, conforming surface comfort.
GELAX®
Foam with gel-like propertiesCombines properties of cold foam and gel: point-elastic, directly pressure-relieving and temperature-neutral — conforming without a memory effect, more breathable than viscoelastic foam. Ideal for warm sleepers.
DIAMAX®
Memory foam with thermal-conductive additiveModified memory foam: the integrated thermal-conductive additive channels heat away actively and prevents heat build-up; the sink-in feel is calmer and less sluggish than classic visco.
Frequently asked questions about our foams
Does CT Formpolster produce foams to customer specification – own density, compression hardness or formulation?+
Yes – from a corresponding order volume. A dedicated foam grade means a dedicated foaming run with formulation adjustment, sample blocks and testing of the characteristic values; this only pays off for both sides once the grade is called off in series. For most applications it is not necessary: our type programme covers around 40 foam grades across eight foam brands – from comfort foam and HR cold foam to visco and gel foam – with defined densities and compression hardness, all values documented and OEKO-TEX® certified. Please check the type programme (PDF) first: in most cases a suitable grade is available from running production. If your requirement is not covered, contact us with target values and planned annual volume – we will assess development in our own foaming plant.
How do I choose the right foam grade from the type programme?+
Three characteristic values drive the choice: density (kg/m³) stands for material input, durability and price; compression hardness (CLD, kPa) for the feel from soft to firm; the foam type – comfort foam, HR cold foam, visco, gel – for behaviour under load, resilience, compression set and climate. The type programme (PDF) lists density, compression hardness and typical applications for each of the roughly 40 grades. For series projects we recommend selecting together with our sales team: we match the right grades to your positioning – entry, comfort, premium – and supply samples for comparison.
Can CT Formpolster replicate an existing foam specification as a second source?+
Yes. Based on your data sheet – foam type, density, compression hardness and any further values – we match the appropriate grade from our type programme and supply sample blocks for comparative testing in your production. For standard qualities such as comfort foam, HR cold foam and visco, the switch is usually possible without changing your builds. If the specification lies outside the programme, the procedure from the first question applies: development from a corresponding order volume. CT Formpolster thus serves as a second source, capacity partner or nearshoring alternative to imported foam – with batch traceability from our own foaming plant, supplied via framework agreement and call-offs.
Which foam grades are suitable for roll-packing?+
Comfort foams, HR cold foam (HYLEX®), visco (VISOMEX®) and gel foam (GELAX®) from our programme can be roll-packed and show full roll-pack recovery after unpacking. The decisive factors are density, compression hardness, build height and time spent compressed. We recommend the suitable compression ratio per grade and, on request, supply samples in roll-packed condition so you can verify recovery and handling in your own process.
Do the foams meet fire-safety and harmful-substance requirements for mattresses, furniture and automotive?+
All foam grades are certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, product class 1 (baby articles) – the strictest level, tested by the Hohenstein Institute. For applications with fire-safety requirements we produce IGNAX® to FMVSS 302; HYLEX® HR cold foam meets FMVSS 302 from a density of 40 kg/m³ without additional flame retardants.
Does CT Formpolster also supply foam as block foam and sheets without converting – and on what terms?+
Yes. We supply all grades in the programme as block foam, sheets and cut parts ex works Löhne, palletised, to mattress manufacturers, converters, the upholstered furniture industry and processing businesses – governed by framework agreement and call-offs.
