GELAX® is our foam with gel-like characteristics. It combines properties of cold foam and gel: high point elasticity, direct pressure relief and temperature neutrality. Unlike memory foam (VISOMEX®), GELAX® does not respond to body heat — only to pressure — and therefore stays equally soft or firm at any ambient temperature.
That makes GELAX® particularly suitable for warm and active sleepers seeking pressure relief without a memory effect or heat build-up. Gel foam is also more breathable than viscoelastic foam. Recommended density for mattress applications: from RG 50 for the comfort layer, from RG 35 for the lower support layer.
| Property | Characteristics | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Temperature neutrality | Yes, no heat influence | Equally soft at any temperature |
| Point elasticity | Very high, direct | Precise body conforming |
| Recovery | Fast, without delay | Active sleepers, position changes |
| Breathability | High, air-permeable | Cool sleeping climate |
| Density | From RG 50 for comfort layers | Premium mattresses, toppers |
| Compared with visco | No temperature dependence | Better for warm sleepers |
GELAX® reacts instantly to pressure, stays temperature-neutral and is more breathable. Ideal for active sleepers and warm sleepers. VISOMEX® reacts to body heat, adapts slowly and distributes pressure over a large area. Ideal for side sleepers with pressure points at shoulder and hip. Both can be combined in a multi-layer build.
A temperature-neutral, point-elastic foam with a cool sleeping climate
Submit an enquiryGel foam (GELAX®) responds directly to pressure, stays temperature-neutral and is more breathable. It springs back quickly without storing heat. Memory foam (VISOMEX®) responds to body heat, adapts slowly and spreads pressure widely, but retains warmth. Gel foam is the better choice for warm sleepers or cool bedrooms; memory foam for sleepers with pressure complaints who prefer an enveloping feel.
CT Formpolster in Löhne produces foam with gel-like properties under the GELAX® brand. Available as block foam, cut-to-size, or as a roll-packed topper for e-commerce and dropshipping.
Gel foam particularly suits warm sleepers who perspire at night, active sleepers who move a lot, and anyone preferring a stable lying feel without the typical sink-in of memory foam. In cool bedrooms gel foam stays consistently soft, while viscoelastic foam firms up.
Gel foam (GELAX®) and HR cold foam (HYLEX®) are the most breathable options. Both stay temperature-neutral, store no body heat and transport moisture well. Viscoelastic foam (VISOMEX®) retains heat and is less suitable for warm sleepers.
For hot bedrooms and summer use GELAX® is the best choice: it stays equally soft at any ambient temperature, stores no body heat and is highly air-permeable. As a topper on an existing mattress, GELAX® noticeably improves the sleeping climate.
