IGNAX® is our flame-retardant foam for applications with defined fire-safety requirements. A special treatment modifies the burning behaviour so that the foam complies with FMVSS 302 — the US federal standard for the flammability of materials in vehicle interiors, required by automotive manufacturers worldwide. It specifies that a material must not burn faster than 102 mm/min.
Beyond fire protection, IGNAX® retains the typical processing characteristics of PU foam: easy to cut, CNC-compatible and combinable with other foam types.
| Property | Characteristics | Typical use |
|---|---|---|

| Burn rate | Max. 102 mm/min (FMVSS 302) | Automotive requirement |
| Base properties | PU foam, easy to process | Cutting, CNC, moulded parts |

Standard-compliant fire protection to FMVSS 302 for vehicle and industrial applications
Submit an enquiryFMVSS 302 requires that materials in vehicle interiors burn no faster than 102 mm/min horizontally. It is legally mandated in the USA and also required by many European and international vehicle manufacturers. FMVSS 302 foams are used for seating systems, panelling and padding in vehicle interiors.
CT Formpolster in Löhne (NRW) produces flame-retardant foam under the IGNAX® brand that meets the requirements of FMVSS 302 — available as block foam or cut-to-size, directly from the factory.
Yes. Many European vehicle manufacturers and outfitters require FMVSS 302 as a minimum, even though other standards (e.g. ECE regulations) formally apply in Europe. IGNAX® suits international clients and European vehicle projects alike.
Yes. IGNAX® is CNC-milled or die-cut to individual dimensions and geometries. It can also be combined with other foam types within a single build.
