SOLIDEX® is our classic polyurethane comfort foam for mattresses, upholstery and technical applications. It is produced by foaming polyol and isocyanate under heat, and its open-cell structure provides good air permeability, wicks moisture away effectively and supports a dry material climate that makes it hard for dust mites to thrive.
Compared with HR cold foam, PU comfort foam is more economical to produce — the material of choice for applications that do not require maximum point elasticity. Compression hardnesses from SH 30 to SH 45 cover the range from soft to medium-firm. For higher body weights or intensive use we recommend densities of RG 35 and above.
| Property | Characteristics | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Density | RG 22 to RG 60 (typical) | Upholstery from RG 25, mattresses from RG 35 |
| Compression hardness | SH 30 to SH 45 | Soft to medium-firm |
| Recovery | Even, stable | Mattresses, seating surfaces |
| Air circulation | Good, open-cell | Hygienic, suitable for allergy sufferers |
| Processability | Very good, CNC-compatible, roll-packable | Cut-to-size, roll-pack shipping |
| Service life | Depends on density and hardness | Higher density = longer life |
An economical base foam with good breathability for a wide range of applications
Submit an enquiryCT Formpolster in Löhne (NRW) produces PU comfort foam under the SOLIDEX® brand at its own plant. Available as block foam or cut-to-size in various densities (RG 25 to RG 45) and compression hardnesses — including smaller quantities for trade and upholstery businesses.
PU comfort foam (SOLIDEX®) is more economical and suited to standard applications with light to medium loads. HR cold foam (HYLEX®) offers significantly higher resilience, better point elasticity, breathability and durability. Cold foam is recommended for premium mattresses and heavily used upholstery, comfort foam for entry-level applications and simple sleep systems.
For mattresses in normal use we recommend densities of RG 35 and above. For higher body weight or intensive use (e.g. holiday rentals, guest beds) RG 40 or higher makes sense. Higher density means more material, more dimensional stability and a longer service life.
Yes. All CT Formpolster foams, including SOLIDEX®, carry the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 label in product class 1 — the strictest level, with limit values safe for direct skin contact with babies.
