VILAX® is our highly elastic comfort foam. It responds directly and springily to load, yields softly and returns quickly to its original shape. That sets it apart from HR cold foam, which is designed primarily for load-bearing, and from viscoelastic foam, which adapts slowly and heat-dependently.
VILAX® sits between standard PU foam and HR cold foam: more comfort and elasticity than SOLIDEX®, yet softer and more responsive than HYLEX®. Typical uses are top layers in mattresses and comfort-oriented seat upholstery.
| Property | Characteristics | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Elasticity | Very high, directly springy | Lounge, sofa, comfort mattress |
| Response | Fast, without delay | Active use, freedom of movement |
| Softness | Soft to medium | Seating comfort, surface comfort |
| Compared with HYLEX® | Softer, less load-bearing | Comfort-oriented applications |

A soft, directly springy comfort foam for seating and lying surfaces
Submit an enquiryBoth are elastic, but with a different focus. HR cold foam (HYLEX®) is optimised for high load-bearing capacity and dimensional stability — ideal for mattresses with clear body support. VILAX® is softer and more responsive, with a springy, conforming feel — particularly suited to seat upholstery and comfort-oriented top layers.
Highly elastic foam works particularly well for sofas, lounge chairs and seat cushions where a soft, springy feel is wanted. It is also frequently used as the upper comfort layer in mattresses.
VILAX® springs back quickly and responds directly to movement, independent of temperature. Viscoelastic foam (VISOMEX®) responds to body heat, adapts slowly and briefly retains the impression. VILAX® is better for active use and dynamic seating; VISOMEX® for maximum pressure relief in the sleep area.
